Our first room in Scotland, and still the only one. Travertine and blush velvet, brushed gold overhead, and circular windows that frame the Old Town like paintings. Come for brunch, stay far too long, leave with something on your camera roll.

The room

Curved blush banquettes, a counter cut from a single run of stone, and a ceiling of brushed gold fins that changes colour as the light goes. The circular windows are the reason people ask for a table by the glass, and the reason they get there early.

  • Round window tables seat two to four and go first.
  • Curved banquettes take six to eight without splitting the group.
  • Halal throughout, with vegan and gluten free across the menu.

Brunch

Before the dessert,
there is brunch.

Eggs on waffles, baked eggs in the pan they arrive in, and coffee worth sitting down for. Brunch runs until three, then the dessert menu takes over. Halal throughout, with vegan and gluten free across the menu.

The Golden Key is the Haute Dolci Edinburgh club. Free to join, nothing to download, and your key arrives by email. Every week the lock is set to four characters, and if your key ends in one of them, dessert is on us between eight and ten. First look and a birthday thing come as standard.
